New Security Regulations regarding the Carriage of Liquids, Aerosols and Gels
There are new security measures at International Airports restricting the carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels as hand luggage aboard international flights.
The new regulations state that all liquids, aerosols and gels carried on board by passengers must be carried in containers smaller than 100ml. All such containers must fit comfortably into a 20cm x 20cm clear re-sealable plastic bag. For more details on these regulations please visit www.flysmart.govt.nz.
What does this mean for purchasing Duty Free Liquids in New Zealand?
Most duty free shopping in New Zealand is not affected because you always pick up your duty free after security screening.
For departing flights there may be some restrictions on carrying duty free liquids over 100ml depending on where you are traveling to. This especially applies to passengers who are on a transit flight. Passengers on transit flights should ensure that they are able to carry their Duty Free Purchase to their final destination.
There are no security restrictions on duty free shopping on arrival in New Zealand.
